UK Cycle to Work Scheme
The Cycle to Work Scheme is a government initiative that helps employees save up to 47% on a new bike and accessories by spreading the cost over tax-free monthly instalments.

How does it work?
The employer buys a bike for the employee, reclaims the VAT, and the employee repays the cost through gross salary deductions (before income tax and NI contributions), allowing them to save while costing the employer nothing.
In fact, your employer also benefits by saving on employee National Insurance contributions. A win-win!

Who is eligible?
If you're 16 or older, employed, and paid through PAYE, you can apply - provided your employer participates in a Cycle to Work scheme. If they don't, we can even help with this!
Please note your post-deduction salary must stay above the National Living or Minimum Wage to be eligible.
What is the process?
Step One
Find out which Cycle to Work scheme your employer is enrolled in, or encourage them to join one - we're happy to help with this.
Step Two
Select your e-bike and any accessories from our range, keeping track of the total cost.
Important: This scheme applies only to pedal bikes or e-bikes that meet EAPC regulations.
See our legal guide here.
Step Three
Apply for your e-certificate (also known as a voucher or letter of collection (LOC)) for the total amount. Once received, send it to us, and we’ll process your order.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who can join the Cycle to Work scheme?
Any employee paid through PAYE who earns above the National Minimum Wage after salary sacrifice can join - even those under 18 with a guardian’s signed agreement. Employers of any size may participate.
How does my employer get involved?
If your employer doesn’t offer the benefit, ask them to contact one of our providers - Gogeta can set up the scheme quickly.
What is salary sacrifice and how do I save?
You agree to a temporary salary reduction (usually over 12 months) in exchange for a bike and accessories. Because deductions come from your gross pay, you pay less income tax and National Insurance.
Which bikes are available?
You can choose any pedal or road-legal e-bike from our catalogue, as long as it is primarily used for commuting.
What savings can I expect?
Basic-rate taxpayers can save around 32%, while higher-rate taxpayers may save about 42% - sometimes up to 47% depending on the purchase. Employers also save roughly 13.8% on National Insurance Contributions.
Is there a maximum cost for the bike or equipment?
There’s no upper limit, provided your employer has a Consumer Credit Licence to offer higher value bikes.
Who owns the bike during the hire period?
The employer (or the finance company/bank if they fund the scheme) retains ownership throughout the hire period.
Must the bike be used for commuting?
Yes, at least 50% of its use should be for commuting, although you can still use it for personal trips.
Who handles maintenance and what if the bike is stolen?
You are responsible for routine maintenance. Should the bike be stolen, you must replace it while continuing to use it mainly for commuting. Comprehensive insurance is available through our insurance partner.
What happens at the end of the hire period or if I leave my job?
There’s no obligation for immediate ownership transfer at the end of the hire period, though many employers offer it. If you leave or are made redundant after the cooling-off period, you must repay the remaining salary sacrifice amount in full, and no further Cycle to Work orders can be placed until your current agreement ends.
Safety equipment-only orders also require a minimum spend of £100, and only approved items are eligible.
